College General Status:

Sichuan Information Technology College (SCITC) is a national state-run, full-time common college specified to the vocational education. It was built in 1976, subordinated in the Sichuan Information Industry Bureau. Closely follow the development of the information industry, the college is operated in line with the information industry, it has become an important base to foster skilled talents of Sichuan information industries. The college recruits students in whole China, it has established multi levels education system to run the junior college education, technical secondary school education, and adult continuing education. It is a cradle of senior technical talents who are good at the knowledge and application of production, construction, management and the service. By 2010, the college will become an important talent cultivating base of the electronic information classification in southwest region, and the first-class technology college of the information classification.

The college is situated in Guanyuan City, Sichuan province where the unique female emperor of Chinese history---Wu Zetian was born. Surrounded by green mountain and pretty water, it¡¯s a place with profound historical and cultural accumulation, owning a lot of outstanding people. The college receives the college motto of ¡°Respect virtue, Study hard, Ability for first¡±, and insists the education idea of "People-oriented, Ability foremost", the excellent college style of ¡°Striving, Factuality, and Creation¡± has been formed. As the important skilled talents cultivating base of Sichuan information industry, the college closely follows the development of the information industry, and operates education in line with the information industry. The college has set up Electronic Engineering Department, Computer Engineering Department, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Department, Economic Management Department, Basic Education Section and Adult Education Section. It owns 20 specialties urgently needed in society, such as Numerical Control Technology, Cartoon Design and Creation, Applied Electronic Technology, Communication Technology, Marketing and Sales, and so on. Since these two years, 7 courses of our college such as¡¶C Language¡·, ¡¶High Frequency Electronic Circuit¡·, ¡¶New Color TV Principles and Maintenance¡·, ¡¶C++ Language¡·, ¡¶Electronic Device Craft¡·, ¡¶Static State Webpage Design¡·and ¡¶ Module Making Technology¡· have got appraised as Provincial Excellent Courses, six scientific projects have been set up by Sichuan Education Bureau.

Nowadays, there are 340 teachers and staffs in SCITC, among them there are 250 professional teachers. The college has a batch of ¡±dual-qualified¡± teachers, outstanding backbone teachers of the provincial and municipal levels, academic and technology lead teachers of municipal level, and famous teachers of municipal level, which has formed a good quality teaching team combined by full-time and part-time teachers, among them the teachers who own the senior and middle professional titles hold 80 percent of the total number of full-time teachers, and hired more than 60 part-time professors from the famous IT enterprises, research institutes and key universities. The college has a Gigabit Campus Network, satellite television systems, electronic reading room, multimedia classrooms, Computer Center and English audio-visual room, digital libraries and other modern teaching facilities. The college has more than 40 specialty laboratories and inside-campus experiment base, and has about one hundred outside-campus practical employment base. In 2007, the college NC technology practice base was successfully declared as State NC Training Base. The teaching facilities worth 20 million RMB, the college library stores 200,000 books and more than 30 million E-books, the college has set up advanced archive computer management system.

Successively, the college has cooperated with American Cisco Company, India National Information Technology College and Beijing Zhongke Red flag Software to jointly set up Specialty; cooperated with Oracle Company to perform the ICSB education and training project, by bidding process, It has been successfully chosen as the unique Talent Cultivating partner (one of 10 national partners) of Lenovo Group in the western region of China. Now SCITC is performing ¡°Order Form Type¡± Talents Cultivating Model in cooperation with over 10 famous enterprises from domestic and abroad including Zhongxin Communication( ZTE), the Southern China Car Group, Gigabyte Technology, Lenovo Group, SCITC has opened 10 more direction-oriented cultivating classes such as the "ZTE classes", "Gigabyte classes", "Shennan circuit classes"," Lenovo special class". The talent cultivating model based on Specialty groups of" one public platform + multi specialty directions" has been gradually formed and has achieved significant results. In 2007, our college took part in the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Information Industry, and awarded first prize; Attended the "China • Chengdu Software Design Competition", got the good mark ranked 5 of ¡°Application Software Design¡±, better than the regular University.
